Case study: Mansfield Road, Alfreton
This new development of 37 new affordable homes includes a range of house types, including one-bed maisonettes, two, three and four-bed houses which have been designed to benefit local people. All homes are let through Amber Valley Borough Council and managed by NCHA.
The site is located near the busy urban town centre and was designed in response to the site constraints of a small single access point and existing houses on all elevations. To combat the steep slope, the new road has been raised to reduce gradients for houses on both sides of the street along with a small orchard to help define the character of the new development.
The homes have been designed with a fabric first approach and built sensitively by GEDA Construction. The homes have been given an energy rating of 'B'. Energy efficient and with low carbon emissions the homes offer new residents highly insulated cavity walls, gas central heating with efficient boilers, and electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
