Case study: Malone Terrace
This two-storey purpose-built supported housing provides much-needed homes close to Nottingham city centre for people in need of mental health support who are also at risk of homelessness.
There are 14 fully furnished self-contained flats, with a social space, office and communal courtyard to encourage social interaction.
Built on a gas-free site, these homes have been built to energy rating ‘B’. Heating and hot water will be provided by air source heat pumps, and solar-generated power will deliver electricity. Green living roofs, vehicle charging points and thick layers of insulation ensure these homes will be warm and comfortable, minimising their environmental impact.
The development was built on a greenfield site and has revamped the dilapidated old Nottingham College site. Malone Terrace is part of a wider mixed-use development which also includes 56 independent living flats and bungalows as well as a new office for NCHA.
