New homes unveiled in Alfreton
It's great to see another affordable housing design brought to life as we joined Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) to celebrate the scheme opening of the development off Mansfield Road in Alfreton.
This new scheme called William Carter Close has transformed a previously unused area of Alfreton, bringing 34 much-needed, quality homes for rent near the vibrant town centre.
Mike Price, Pelham's Head Architect, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “We’re excited to see the design brought to life and pleased with the finished look. The site presented several complexities, which we have successfully navigated throughout the process with GEDA Construction and consulting engineers Willian Saunders.”
A range of homes, including one-bed maisonettes, two, three and four-bed houses have been designed to benefit local people. All have been fully let through Amber Valley Borough Council and will be managed by NCHA.
The site is located near the busy urban town centre and was designed in response to the site constraints of a small single access point and existing houses on all elevations. To combat the steep slope, the new road has been raised to reduce gradients for houses on both sides of the street along with a small orchard to help define the character of the new development.
The homes have been designed with a fabric first approach and built sensitively by GEDA Construction. The homes have been given an energy rating of 'B'. Energy efficient and with low carbon emissions the homes offer new residents highly insulated cavity walls, gas central heating with efficient boilers, and electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
Chris Stinson, Associate Director at GEDA Construction, expressed his pride in the entire team involved in the project. He stated, “Throughout the construction process, we collaborated closely with NCHA and key stakeholders to ensure the project was completed on time and within budget.
Our project delivery team demonstrated exceptional engagement and pride throughout the construction phases, resulting in outstanding build quality. I am truly delighted for everyone who contributed to this achievement.”
